MDA Telethon donation info

MDA Telethon, Monday Sept. 1

As most of you know, Clay Aiken has been added to this year's cavalcade of stars appearing on Jerry Lewis's Labor Day Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Immediately the LBFCA Guestbook was abuzz with ideas about donating money to this worthy cause. Cella and Julie put their purty heads together, did a little research, and came up with a plan that the Broads can be proud of!

If you wish to make a donation, of whatever amount is comfortable for you, please visit the MDA's Telethon website and click on "Donate Now". There you will find a simple form for making a secure online donation with your credit card.

We at the LBFCA ask that when you make your MDA donation, you check the Yes box in response to "Would you like this gift to be in memory or in honor of someone?" When you are prompted to continue to the next page, you will be given a form regarding the honoree information. We think it would be a nice gesture to make our Broadly donations in memory of Clays father, Ray Parker, who passed away last year.

There was some discussion in the Guestbook about how we could identify our donations as coming from the LBFCA. If you wish to do this, you can request that a gift card be sent to a specific address, notifying the recipient that a donation was made in the name of Mr. Parker. This card (samples available for viewing on the MDA website) can show your name, or the name of the organization you represent (we recommend using the initials rather than the full name...for obvious reasons!). Some ideas for where such an announcement might be sent include:

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation, P.O. Box 90307, Raleigh, NC 27675

or

Clay Aiken, c/o RCA Records, 1540 Broadway, New York, NY 10036

or

Clay Aiken, c/o American Idol, PO Box 900, Beverly Hills, CA 90213-0900

(of course, if you wish for your donation to remain anonymous, that is entirely up to you)

The best part about making our donations online is that we can make them ASAP...no need to wait for Monday's show!

(fyi...Clay is scheduled to appear between about 1:30pm to 2:30pm PDT)
