A Valentine is a gift from the heart

It is not meant to fade with time

It is not a box of chocolates or a dozen roses

Oh no, a Valentine is so much more.

A Valentine is a beautiful voice

A voice that can command the stars at night

That can calm the sea

A Valentine is a beautiful face

A face that makes the aged feel young again

That makes mature, immature

A Valentine is in the eyes

Eyes that are as green as emeralds

As soothing as rain

A Valentine is words wrapped in stripey paper.

"Clay, the Lecherous Broads love you!"

"Hey, I love you guys too!"

A Valentine is a simple gesture

A slight tug of the shirt

A black suit with a purple tie

A Valentine is a look

A gaze that seeps into your soul

A slow blink, a wink, a wave of the lashes

A Valentine is a package

One without wrappings or ribbons

But a package just the same

A Valentine is a smile

A reveal of crooky imperfection

Yet, it is perfect

A Valentine is a feeling

A thank you beyond words

A Valentine is love
