(based on Warning by Jenny Joseph,
lovingly rewritten for the LBFCA)
When I am a BROAD I shall wear purple
With red shoes that don't go and don't suit me
And I shall spend my money on concert tickets, teen magazines
And DVD burners, and say we've no money for food
I shall stand up at concerts even though I'm tall
And grab up downloads from websites and click on polls
And run my mouth about critics and naysayers
And make up for the boredom of my adulthood.
I shall go out in support of my man
And pester the DJs on local radio stations
And learn to photoshop.
You can wear homemade t-shirts and display your BEVR
After eating three dozen Krispy Kremes at a go
And do stuff that's un-ladylike
And boast about your age because you've earned it.
Online we can do things that keep us wry
And pay our respects and swear not to bug him
And set a good example for thoseother people.
We will have friends for a lifetime as we read Purple Pages.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now
So people who know me are not surprised
When suddenly I am a BROAD and start to wear purple.
