2005-01-01
New Year 2005 Happy New Year from LBFCA! 2004 was a year of abundance for LBFCA. Clay Aiken delivered joy and song and inspiration for our lechery over and over and over. Again and again. This was our first full year of loving and lusting after Clay Aiken...we got all 365 days, all 525,000 minutes. Most of us tried to savor every moment. Clay helped us make the most of them. New Year's Day is a time to look back and celebrate the good times we remember from the past year, and to look forward with anticipation to 2005. As enthusiastic fans of Clay Aiken we started 2004 with a look back to 2003...via Clay's ai2 Tour Special. Some of us were unreasonably thrilled by images of Pissy!Clay! attacking that Coke machine.
Most of us were rendered puddles of goo at the reminders of Clay's Triumphant Return to Raleigh
We looked back again, intermittently, between January and May, as we celebrated the first anniversary of some favorite memories of seeing Clay during his season on ai. From Our First Time through finding a way to Fondly Recall May 21, 2003. As we looked back, we enjoyed the warm memories, and were struck by how far Clay had come in just a year. But, most of 2004 was about supporting Clay's successes as he moved forward in his career, delighting in his growth as an artist, and simply extolling his many virtues in the love and lechery stimulation department. All mixed with a fair measure of our own brand of absurd humor. Today's MP is a tribute to Clay Aiken's year of 2004, as well as to LBFCA's. For those of you who don't read every LBFCA Main Page (and why don't you???), or, for those who like re-reading them (ok, that's probably only me...dork!), I've thrown in links to many highlights. Problem is, LBFCA is sort of like Lake Wobegone...all the Broads are good looking, and all the Main Pages are above average :-). I've tried to capture a summary of the year, but this page is long. I know Lecherous Broads don't usually complain about anything being too long, and Broads certainly know a thing or two about prolonging satisfaction. But, my office is closed between Christmas and New Year's, and I just saw Clay Live; so I'm a Broad in the rapture of post-Claytal delight with time on my hands...a potentially dangerous combination. I promise I really have not linked to every single MP of 2004 (I'm pretty sure I restrained myself to fewer than 90%). Anyway, you set your own pace, go faster when you want to, or linger and savor. If you can't finish quickly, come back and read some more during the anticipated Clack Drought of 2005 (*sob*). I'll also try to sneak in a New Year's greeting to Clay, while I wear my Crown of Delusion at a fetching angle, imagining he will ever see this himself. Because I've already noted the first of Clay's 2004 TV appearances, I'll continue with a look at our MP celebrations of Clay on TV last year, with a monthly walk down memory lane...get comfy, it's a long walk! Looking back it is almost embarrassing how fortunate we Clay fans are in our numerous opportunities to see Clay on TV. In January we had a yummy Vanilla Cream suit and Purple Shirt and Tie shout out on Leno:
Then, acting Clay on Ed and Roller!Coaster!Clay! on a VH1 special:
In February we enjoyed HipSnarkyClay on SNL:
Preppy Clay on Regis and Kelly, sun kissed Clay in those nice tight jeans on Ryan Seacrest's show:
Plus, promoting the IT with Kelly on ET, then, again on ET, promoting The Way video. In March we moaned over RaspyVoicedSleepyheadClay on The Today Show:
The Way Video Premiere on TRL, and Dreamy Clay on The View:
In April Clay wasn't on TV much, due to touring, but when he was, we relished a perfect performance of Solitaire. Clay showed, yet again, how he'd transcended that ai tv show:
In May, when Clay and his mom were featured on Mom Rocks the Early Show we indulged in a Clack Extravaganza!
Next, we enjoyed Clay's third appearance on Leno, as he entertained with a cute and goofy interview, then knocked our socks off with a stunning performance of Solitaire:
Many a fantasy was satisfied when we watched ai3 just to see Clay give that show what many of us thought of as a big goodbye:
We delighted in hearing Clay called an "honest to god, bonafide, where did that guy come from star" on an E! True Hollywood Story special. In June, we complained when some of us thought NASCAR didn't give us enough Clay. We loved seeing Clay featured on AFI's 100 Years 100 Songs. Then, the wait was worth it when Clay was captivating on The Jimmy Kimmel Show:
In July we got to watch Honorary Lecherous Broad Diane Sawyer go all fangirly over being in the presence of Our Tiger. Taped on the same day, but not broadcast until later, the Broads were right overcome by the way Clay handled the mic stand on The Early Show:
Sandwiched between those televised appearances was Patriotic Clay on The Capital Fourth. Clay skipped TV in August, while busy touring. Then, September brought us and The Relly Awards. While there were no TV appearances in October, we knew we would be rolling in TV Clack from the MCWL and LTS Media Blitz in November and December. We were not of unanimous opinion about Clay's outfit for but were unanimous in our love for him. Some of us (ok, me!) cried over the announcement of Clay's UNICEF Ambassadorship on Larry King Live. The tree paled in comparison to the bright light of
We enjoyed another Purple Shirt shout-out when Clay appeared on The Early Show promoting LTS. He kept us so busy, we didn't even create MPs for every one of Clay's December TV appearances...I included a partial summary in a Voice and Totality of Goodness of Clay Aiken page. Then, we were delighted when Clay again appeared on Leno. We didn't even capture all of Clay's taped Christmas appearances on the morning shows, or his first ever hour-long special.
Let's just say Clay Aiken turns fans into customers of TIVO and similar products.
Aside from following Clay's television career, at LBFCA we continued our tradition of writing and/or illustrating songs and poems. We were diverse in our song tastes, from Buffy Sainte Marie (He's a Pretty Good Man) and Sammy Davis, Jr. to KISS (He Kissed Me), and Prince ( Kiss). We made pages out of Clay's own songs, like Solitaire, Bridge Over Troubled Water, No More Sad Thong, and Addicted (Invisible), Proud of Your Boy; and his back-up singers songs, Smiling Face. We made pages from country songs, like On the Road Again, You're Not Alone Tonight, Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me, Sweet Home Carolina, and Clay's Got His Blue Jeans On. We made pages from seasonal and holiday songs, like Clayton the Showman, Leno, Did You Know?, and Reborn on the Fourth of July. We made pages from show tunes and movie songs, like Tonight, The Clacker's Anthem, My Favorite Things, Prince Clay EEE!!!, Part of Clay's World, See You in October. We covered old songs
soul songs (Soul Man), ballads (Ballad of Clay Aiken), classic rock (Rock Me Clayton Aiken), and pop (Losing My Religion, Lost in Your Eyes). We 'sang' the blues and songs of longing when we needed to see Clay again (Lack of Clack Blues, Sister Can You Spare a Dime?, When I Need You, and we sang teasing songs about how Clay sometimes appeared when we did see him (You Can Keep Your Hat On). We wrote poetry, such as Our Valentine, and Christmas Wishes for My Broads, and pages based on poetry, such as and When I am a BROAD I Shall Wear Purple. Suffice it to say, Clay Aiken inspires us to create music and verse...and to illustrate our works with images of HIM! We also wrote treatises to Clay's clothing and accessorizing choices: Fugly Shirt vs Fashion Statement And, my personal favorites *wink*, Clay Aiken's Ties! We analyzed Clay's hair:
We celebrated glimpses of Clay's attractive features: We wrote pages and pages commemorating
We wrote pages of congratulations to Clay for his numerous successes: Being voted the #1 Sexiest Singer in an In Style Magazine poll MCWL Breaks Record and LTS a Best Seller
We wrote pages thanking Clay for many things, including Solitaire, for the Independent Tour, for Clay thanking his fans for supporting his contribution to
and for the Summer Tour. We planned our first ever Official Multiple Broadfests, and posted special pages before each one: Winston Salem, Meet Me in St. Louis, and Broads and Tramps and (Westward) HO's. We wrote only-at-LBFCA pages featuring our cats:
We lived in our own little delusion-driven corner of Clay Nation, happily developing and illustrating our own reality, writing pages about LBFCA, our selves, and our Wild BEVR Double-O Ranch.
We celebrated our own special anniversaries, and all the major LBFCA Holidays:
We helped Clay ummm, have relief and rest during his Spring Vacation at The Ranch. We held our own Ranch Olympics. We Wendy found every opportunity to plaster Keith Urban's photo on the MP, as she did with When Obsessions Collide (she's cheatin' on you, Clay...I'm telling you!). We introduced new 'characters' to our little world: We were just plain wacky: LBFCA Serves at the Pleasure of it's President Mary Clayton Gallagher...SupahStah! What's In a Name? ... Trademark Opportunities CBS Early Show: Alternate Universe
Air Instrumentation, Part the Third: Solo Air
We followed Clay around the country to his live appearances. Multiple Broads attended Bobblefest, and even more gathered for The Independent Tour. We tried to learn and grow our site, and opened a new Guest Book for The Summer Not a Tour, and another one for The Joyful Noise Tour. In March we opened a Photo Guest Book, and more Broads learned how to host and post photos.
We crammed our hard drives full of images of Clay, not wanting to lose a single microphone debacle:

We began 2004 near the end of Guest Book 2, and as Im preparing to post this, we are in the middle of Guest Book 5. Our Purple Pages have been brimming with love and lechery all year. We love writing about Clay, and to each other, sharing this wild ride.
Many of us became closer through the connections made in our Purple Home, and even closer when meeting in real life. We have Clay Aiken to thank for that, for our community. Which brings me to my New Year wishes for Clay
Clay, I sincerely hope you get that nap youve been talking about! Of course I wish you continued success in your career and philanthropic efforts. But first, I hope you are able to take some time for yourself, away from us, away from our ridiculously enthusiastic fandom. Away from the media, and critics, and number crunchers, and admirers and advisors. Please trust that we will be here supporting you, even when you are out of the spotlight. I hope you have time to yourself to absorb the changes you have been through this past year, and time to contemplate whatever is most important and meaningful to youtime to listen for that provident direction you spoke of when talking to Larry King. I hope you are able to refresh and revitalize aspects of yourself that I suspect get depleted from being on for us so much when you are touring and promoting your work.
I hope you are able to be in touch with people who matter the most to you. May you be challenged in your real relationships, and enjoy personal growth in a private life that is satisfying and grounding. I guess this is sounding a lot like my New Years wish from last JanuaryI wish for you to find a balance, between your singing career, and your charitable works, and your personal private self care. To know yourself. To pay attention to what you need. To stay grounded. To stay whole. To live your life fully as the person you are meant to be. New year, same wish!
May you have a year of joy, peace, prosperity and growth.
Thanks to all of those who gathered and shared the Clack that made the images on this page possible.
