We came for the Voice when we started...
Overwhelmed by the sweetest of sound...
Glued to each note... and each movement...
When he sang, there was Love all around

His Solitare left us all shaking...
To Love Somebody...soulful and deep...
Each note from that beautiful stranger
Was one that would make Angels weep

I Survived You brought us new meaning...
We were shaken right down to the core...
And Mary Did you Know was pure magic
It took us places we'd not gone before

But something profound was occuring
We were caught up in its ebb and its flow...
Though we thought that our love for him filled us...
Like the Grinch, our hearts started to grow.

For here was a wonderous present...
Someone who would now pay his dues
He would care for the weak and the wanting...
And he'd walk for awhile in their shoes

He gave back for what he'd been given...
And expected no less from us all...
Like the Pied Piper leading the children
His example made others stand tall

The music was no less beguiling...
Perhaps now even touching us more...
We heard it no longer just airborn...
It touched us right down to our core.

We revisited youth thru his music
Becoming the ultimate Fan.
But though we came for the voice of an angel...
We stayed for the voice of the man.
