BEVR: Linda/Tampa

First, I can only say this is a LOT harder than I thought!! This is going to be like describing how you feel Christmas morning when you are six years old when you just got everything you wanted, or your first BIG O after going without for a few years!!!! My mind is spinning out of control, but I will try to organize the dizziness!

PRECONCERT

Nothing but worries. Worried about my lousy seats. Worried about my posters. Worried about missing something good (like chances to actually meet the beautiful one!). Worried that there would be a lousy crowd in Tampa, because they were NOT sold out. Worried about the rain (heh, there have been torrential downpours here for several weeks).

I found out late Tuesday night that Ticketmaster released a new batch of seats. People were buying front row in the a.m., but there were only level one by the time I found out about it. I bought the best they had left, because they were better than mine. My other tickets were first level in the back, and these were first level right beside the stage!

I painted my car with "Honk if You Love Clay!" and "Tampa Loves Clay!" On the way to the concert, no one honked!!! Nada, nothing...I got there about 3:30 and there was NO ONE there except people sitting up radio stations (I think Clay gets played once a week here in Tampa - ughhh), but the stations were there. There was a small gathering of people at the box office - the group gathered for the meet and greet. Jerome comes out and says to the organizer "This is it????" I raised my hand and said "I'll go." He ignored me, so I asked louder, "Can I go?" He says "No ma'am!" in a non too friendly way. First impression of Jerome - not nice.

I hung around in the broiling sun for about an hour, alone, on the verge of tears, then called my daughter to come pick me up. I had already paid for parking, so I decided to leave my car there. My daughter is 27 and coming with me to the concert under great protest. Of course I couldn't drag her there at 3:30. I felt very dejected, while I sat at my daughter's house and waited for 6:00 to roll around.

SECOND TRY

My daughter and I went back to the arena, I got my posters out of the car and we went back to the square! What a different story! I seemed to be the only one carrying posters and they were the main center of attention. My daughter and I could not walk three feet inside or outside the stadium without someone stopping us to read them. My spirits really started to pick up.

This is my first poster for the Tampa fans! That's the ever sexy Jon Gruden - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach and all around Tampa Bay idol here!

My second poster was for "Invisible:"

And my third picture was for the BROADS!!!!

My posters were a huge hit, it was like waving a huge RED flag to Clay fans!!! We met SOOO many people! I felt like I had come home to my own species! I told my daughter I was finally with my own kind. I no longer felt like an alien from the planet Claymania!!!

We went to a restaurant in the forum, because I had read there would be a group of clay fans there from another message board. I took my posters over to their table of 25 or so people and it was like meeting old friends!!!!! Hugging and talking and EXCITED!!

My daughter and I sat at the bar and talked to three bartenders who were extremely interested in the Clay goings-on. The young woman who works at the forum went to the prom with Clay. She was waiting at the door for him, when he arrived in the afternoon. They didn't know how that reunion went, only that the girl was extremely excited to see him again! (can you only imagine!!)

Finally, the time came. Our seats were GREAT!! (We took our other first level seat tickets up to the third level and gave them away to a couple of very excited Clay fans!!!) Jerome was on the floor on our side, with a line up of people carrying stuffed animals, cards, etc. I decided to try again just to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, if Clay likes him, he can't be all bad. You couldn't go onto the floor level without a ticket, so I called him over when he was free and he came. Very friendly and smiling this time. I asked if I could have a picture with him and he said he is not "allowed" to let anyone take pictures with him, because it was taking the attention away from the idols, because he was getting mobbed. (This is a testament to the love people feel for our Clay!!!!) I just laughed and said that he was almost as famous as the idols, because he took care of our boy. I asked him how Clay was holding up, and he said really fine, great. I then asked him if Clay was tired because I had read he only got 4 hours of sleep last night. He told me "Clay is sleeping now." I got all goose bumpy thinking about that picture of him asleep that's always on the net.

He then looked at my posters and pointed out the lecherous broads one. "What's the RANCH?" he says. I start explaining and he starts laughing saying, "Oh yeah, I did hear about that!!!!!"

Second impression of Jerome - very nice. He can keep watching over our boy after all!!!!

THE MAIN EVENT

It was not full, but respectable. During the preconcert warm ups, I heard a lot of cheers for Ruben, so I worried a little, that it would be too Ruben. NO WORRIES!!

By this time, my worries were out the window and sheer pleasure took over!! When it started, I realized that Clay would be live and in person, not more than a few dozen feet away from me in 1/2 hour. Seeing the other performers come and go was like foreplay! I couldn't tell you a thing about any of them, except I kept counting down with each one until Claytime!! By the time Kim Locke came on I was jumping up and down screaming, not for her, but because it was almost TIME!!!!!

OH MY GODDDDDDD!!!!!! The crowd went wild! But I was BERSERKKKK!!!! He was beautiful!!! His voice was magnificent!! He was utterly sexual!!! I looked up into the monitor to see a closeup of his face and his eyes sparkled!! I read where people say his eyes sparkle or twinkle and they do!!! The rest of the concert was a haze of heart stopping Clay moments or rest/recuperation time. Anytime Clay was on the stage, it made my heart beat into hyper speed! My daughter, the most laid back person in the world, was worried about me, and some lady in front of us asked it I was going to be alright!

A woman threw a green bra and Clay caught it! I hope someone got a picture of the look on his face, because it was priceless!!

I tried to imprint every second into my mind, because I knew it was going to have to last me a lonnnngg time. Clay seemed happy, playful, giggly, flirtatious, sensual, funloving, AND breathtakingly sexual. Your normal, everyday, superstar, man-child, tossed into a sea of ferociously devoted, loving fans, who couldn't get enough. Every time he turned his head, smiled, giggled, or sang a solo (even if it was just a stanza) the crowd went wild!!! He was IT, he was EVERYTHING!! He was why we were all there. He is why we spend hours on the net reading, listening and trying to find out all there is to know about this extraordinary human being!!!

WORST MOMENT

There were a LOT MORE Clay posters than I thought, but I didn't see ANY for Ruben. Clay tried his hardest to make it all about Ruben. His unyielding friendship and devotion to Ruben is heart-tugging in itself. His unsuccessful attempts to hold Ruben up as the "star" of the show only backfires, because it just makes us love him all that much more! The only very "uncomfortable" moment of the night was when Ruben sang his new song from his CD. The crowd was slightly dumbfounded and just stood there - mouths agape. It was a truly horrible song, without the slightest appeal. I felt sorry for Ruben who was trying his hardest to make it work.

OUTRAGEOUS-STUNNING-SHOWSTOPPING-HEARTSTOPPING MOMENT

Invisible - It was the best you ever had with whipped cream or honey! It was the KUMBA roller coaster at Busch Gardens going into its' first spin! It was the perfect buzz after a few beers on an empty stomach! It was diving into a cool pool after hours in the Florida sun! It was getting your Rolling Stone Magazine with our Clay on the cover! It was thinking you were having the mother of all dreams and then realizing YOU'RE AWAKE!!!!

It was everything I hoped and dreamed it could be, without even realizing it could actually be that good.

It was Clay.

Tampa Bay Lightning Jersey

On the way home, almost everyone who drove by my car "honked" and shouted!
