Celebrity Apprentice

It's been a while, but I'm still here to document the milestones in Clay's career, in case anyone stumbles over here to blow off the dust and see what's happening.

Clay's a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, airing Sundays at 9PM on NBC.

And if you ask me, he's a contender for the win.

In four short weeks, Clay has sold sandwiches, performed at Medieval Times, live-mannequined in a Lord & Taylor shop window, and provided the backbone for a new model launch presentation for Buick. He's quickly proving himself to quite competitive in this show, with his no-nonsense approach, sharp-but-kind wit, and willingness to work hard. I'm excited to see him take on the role of Project Manager in a future task, and hopefully go all the way to the finals.

Clay live-tweets every episode from his twitter account @clayaiken. Keep an eye out for his weekly #classyclaymoment, which might be anything from picking his ear to, well, you'll have to tune in to find out.

Smart cookie that he is, Clay's asking his fans to text CLAY to 50555 every time they notice his #classyclaymoment for the week, to donate $10 to his charity, The National Inclusion Project. Pretty great idea from a pretty great guy.

I figured last night's erection moment was worth more than 10 measly bucks, so I donated a Benjamin to his charity today. I'll be donating to his charity for every week that he continues on the show, and not just because it's for Clay.

As a teacher, I see the difference that inclusion makes in the lives of students with developmental disabilities every day. Working with students who have special needs has made me a better teacher, and a better person. It has made a difference in how students without disabilities treat one another. Including all children equally is a powerful thing, and if I can reach into my pocket to give what some people spend in a week on fancy coffee drinks to help further this mission, I'm happy to do it. Clay's charity is a good one, and it's a cause worth giving to. Please consider donating to The National Inclusion Project.

You can keep up with the inside scoop on Celebrity Apprentice at Clay's blog, Clay's Take.

Here's to what will hopefully be a long and successful run for Clay on the show. Based on what I've seen so far, the boy from Raleigh who lit up our screens and burrowed his way into our hearts 8 years ago (yikes!) is now one hell of a man.
