The Voice and Totality of Goodness of Clay Aiken Day: The Color Purple

Whew, this loving Clay Aiken can be quite the roller coaster! What a week.

The Lecherous Broads for Clay Aiken were in a tizzy Tuesday with this Purple News broke (bolding mine):

With promotional help from Oprah Winfey and the Empire State Building, a revamped "The Color Purple" gets its Broadway unveiling Thursday, a little more than a year after its Atlanta world premiere.

~~~
The Empire State Building will be bathed in purple light, and the purple carpet outside the Broadway Theatre will be plush with A-list guests: Sidney Poitier, Tina Turner, Jerry Seinfeld, Billy Joel, Leontyne Price, Clay Aiken and Jason Biggs, to name a few.
Whoohoo!!! The Broads were tha-rilled at the prospect of seeing Clay bathed in purple light!
Imaginations ran wild...what will Clay wear?
A PURPLE TIE?
PURPLE SOCKS?
PURPLE UNDIES?
(heh...a Broad can dream)
Plus, we were gonna celebrate Clay's birthday with our Purple family on Wednesday...and we did.
Then, the sadness and anger struck, as soon as the reports came in about Reading Good News where the behavior of a few [insert preferred expletive here] apparently cause harm to Clay, and marred the experience for the rest of the crowd.
The next day, reading about Clay's behavior at the Reading M&G and watching Clack from the fun parts of Clay's birthday show offered some comfort and joy.
But, a ripple of anxiety about Clay's well-being, and, frankly, even about our continued access to Clack was palpable. My concern for Clay was heightened by reports he was not seen at The Color Purple premiere.
Then, on Friday, Wire Images brought us the greatest gift...TEACHER CLAY!
Whatever burdens he bore, Clay's shoulders looked strong and capable.
Clay's expressive hands
looked as expressive as ever
doing that other thing besides singing he says he loves.
He looked like he was really enjoying himself.
So, yea, we didn't get to see him bathed in purple light.
No worries.
Clay Aiken brings his own light.
Reports from the first NY show on Friday were good, including that fans and security squelched the flashers, and the Clack was gathered, and Clay was...well, CLAY!!!
And, Good News was a healing balm.
